Make sure vacuum is hooked up and working correctly.
Make sure guard and riving knife are installed on saw.
Place any off-cuts into garbage and do not leave on floor.
Make sure that the cut room is left clear and clean so that the next person cutting doesn't have a mess to deal with. Clean sites are safe and happy sites.
Sweep or vacuum up all saw dust left on floor.
Vacuum up all dust on saw box and saws.
Empty and clean out vacuum.
Take out any garbage that has accumulated throughout the day.Â
If any blades are dull then tell the foreman or a project manager to get more blades as soon as possible
Have a toolbox talk to discuss any issues/concerns with all workers on site.
Make sure to let everyone on site know of any changes or new procedures for installations or site.
Remind everyone of the safety procedures on site.
Clean out the saw box.
Have one person (typically the foreman) go around and check the entire floor for any damaged/missing parts and report it to the shop and a project manager.
Check for any supplies that you may need to order and let a foreman know so that they can order anything right away.
If you are getting low on some supplies then you can check to see if there is a QR code on their box or bag and scan that to order more.
Some of these steps will vary depending on the vacuum that you have on site.
Put on your mask.
Open vacuum and empty out container (or bag) of all saw dust into a garbage bin/box.
If you have a vacuum bag (which is the best way to extend the life of the vacuum and the filter) then try to empty it through the hole at the top or if you find it to difficult you can cut the bottom of the vacuum bag off to empty it. If you have cut the bottom of the bag you can reuse it a few times at least by rolling up the bottom slightly and then holding it closed with some clips. Please ask your foreman for clips if you need to roll up the bottom of the vacuum bag.
Clean out filter by tapping it on the inside of a garbage can or box. This step may not really be needed if you use a vacuum bag.
Place everything back (filter, bag, and top motor) and hook back up to saw.
The main way to keep a cut room tidy and clean is to do regular cleaning and make sure that the vacuum is working correctly.
Empty out the entire saw box and collect any old or unused items, drawings, papers, tools, bits, blades, etc and get it ready to be returned to the shop.
Vacuum inside and outside of box.
Put everything that will be needed back into the saw box in an organized way so that you always know what you have on site and don't forget to use certain supplies.
For all supplies that need to be restocked check out the "Every week" section.
